Broadening Your Perspective and Trying New Things

Comfort is a fine thing and something that many people strive to achieve. Having a level of comfort in your life is never a bad thing, but it can be possible to become too attached to this comfort and therefore become adverse to trying new things that might threaten to push you out of your comfort zone. While that prospect can seem like a frightening, negative thing, it’s important to recognize the value that it can have for your personal development.

So, it might be time to look at some new ways of spending your free time that can broaden your perspective. Of course, you still want these activities to be things that appeal to you, but it might just take a more open-minded attitude to fully appreciate what that bracket includes.

  1. Live Entertainment

The term ‘entertainment’ and the industry it refers to has sort of becoming synonymous with pop culture and blockbuster hits. Movies, games, and music are all so heavily tied to the digital medium, thanks to the tools that you use to access them, that it’s difficult to think of being entertained in a way that doesn’t include this same approach. However, this is not the case, and doing something outside the box, such as securing yourself some theatre tickets, might enlighten you about what live entertainment still has to offer.

Of course, that’s not the only form in which live entertainment is available, and you might find that live music is more your speed. This can be either experience as a one-off experience or in the form of a festival, which you might want to familiarise yourself with before you try.

  1. Exercise

You’re likely already aware of how positive an impact exercise can have on your physical and mental health. If you do not already make an effort to include the right amount of it in your regular schedule, the reason you have is likely not that you don’t believe it works, but more that you don’t have the time or the motivation to do so. Getting started can be difficult, but once you’re over that initial difficulty, you might find that the general improvement you feel in your daily life is one that you don’t want to go without again.

It is important that you take care of yourself in this way, even if you struggle to find the time, and even walking is a good place to start.

  1. An Open Mind

Sometimes, it’s less about seeking out particular experiences for the sole purpose of broadening your horizons and more about learning when to simply say yes and enjoy the ride. You never know when these openings are going to arise, and if you’re with your friends and they suggest an activity that you find yourself interested in, it might be worth following that impulse rather than caving to your natural instinct to simply decline due to the unfamiliarity. It can be difficult to develop this mindset, especially as it won’t feel natural to you at first, but over time you might find that it allows you to feel much more relaxed about the situations that crop up throughout your life.
