Design thinking is the advanced approach to solving problems. Comprehending the client’s problem from the ground level by understanding their challenges, understanding the client, and providing a solution-based approach to solve the problems comes under this concept. The entire concept revolves around understanding the user for whom the product has to be designed or understanding the product itself.

Design thinking usually has specific steps that must be kept in mind before thinking of any solution for any problem. These steps include: identifying the problem, defining the problem after being identified, pondering and thinking about the problem, how to resolve the issue, creating a prototype of the solution that has been framed, and lastly, testing that solution before providing it to the user. These are the general guidelines that have to be included in design thinking.

Critical reasons for gaining popularity

The world has developed to a terrific extent that everybody needs many masters and authentic problem-solving methods. Along with being developed, the world has become more complex and interrelated. Every professional from every field follows or attempts to follow advanced methods and techniques to address human necessities. Different organizations and industries from various fields find design thinking an adequate and highly suitable method for problem-solving.

Many prestigious institutions have also included design thinking as a separate course in the universities. It has become imperative for every one of us to think of more solution-based approaches and think of such solutions in a more refined manner. Amid the growing demands of the people, the methods should also grow in whatever activity we accomplish for the people. Therefore, it is included in the universities as a separate course. It has also become one of the most popular courses in prestigious universities like Harvard, Stanford, Stephens, etc.

One of the most important reasons for online courses on design thinking getting relevant is that several businesses and global organizations like Google, Apple, etc., follow this method and prefer those who comprehend and have knowledge about this technique.

Different Stages of Design Thinking

Design thinking has different steps that have to be followed. The concept itself implies innovative thinking that is not very common and solves that particular problem.

  1. Identifying the problem

Here, the assumptions that a person has about the things around and about the world should not at all be considered. Here, the user’s mind must be understood by looking at the problem or the product that has to be solved.

  1. Defining the problem

This phase implies putting the entire research and information in one place and determining the demand and problem of the user. The ideas should be discussed and noted regarding the solution of that particular problem before its final implementation.

  1. Pondering about the problem

After the first two stages, this is the stage of thinking and generating ideas that have to be different and unique based on the user’s requirement. The idea has to be user-friendly and also creative in its way. Communicating with teammates and sharing each other’s ideas will help reach the solution effortlessly.

  1. Creating a prototype

This is the stage where the solutions or ideas that have been created have to be tested. The team shall provide a sample product that has to be similar to the user’s product, which will help analyze the solution that the team has created. The entire prototype must be presented either on paper or through whichever method suits them best.

  1. Implementing the actual solution

After the testing and everything has been accomplished, it is the stage of implementing the actual solution to the real problem that the user has. It is the final stage of the entire design thinking process. If anybody from the team discovers any other problem, the whole stage has to be followed again step by step.

Design thinking involves several people as a team to work on one particular problem. There would be a gathering of more than one individual’s mind, and due to this, the generated solution would be easy and free from any loopholes. This strategy has gained immense popularity. For that reason, design thinking course online assists an individual in learning and practicing the method before getting into the field and working for real clients. It is ideal for them to become specialized and then experience the actual problems from the users. It is a continuous process that has to be followed in a particular order, and only then an accurate result will be formulated.

Design thinking is for everybody and every level of the business. It is not restricted only to the designers. It is also for freelancers, businesses, employers, leaders, and so on who want to include design thinking at any level of their business, product, and service to derive new alternatives for the people in general and also for the business.

Conclusion

Design thinking is a continuous process that is basically used to understand the user’s relationship with the product and provide them with better product experiences. It is generally used to improve the product by analyzing its interaction with the user and observing how the user operates that product.

The design thinking approach is different from the scientific approach of problem-solving. Unlike the scientific approach, the design thinking approach falls on the more creative side. In the scientific approach, the already proven facts are considered to solve any problem, but this is not the case with the design thinking approach. Here, the person has to be more empathetic towards the user and do things according to the user’s perspective and interaction.

Therefore, it is said that design thinking is a creative way of thinking for solutions and thinking out of the box. In today’s scenario, it is imperative to be extra creative and employ advanced methods in everything you do, be it finding solutions for a problem or fulfilling any human necessities.
