Wedding Day

Your impending nuptials are going to be some of the simultaneously most emotional and nerve-wracking words you will ever say, and it is certainly true to say that your wedding day will be one of the greatest days of your entire life.

If it often noted, by both brides and grooms, that their wedding day zoomed past in a veritable blur, so, with this in mind, continue reading to learn four things you should know ahead of your big day.

  1. Venue Is Everything

Aside from your fiancé themselves, the most important thing you have to get right when planning and organizing your wedding, especially in the initial stages, is to ensure you have a proper and even quite serious conversation about the type and style of venue you both want.

Booking a prestigious, renowned and reputable establishment is of optimum priority and when searching through the myriad of different wedding venues, make sure to visit any potential venues, together with your partner, before confirming the booking.

  1. Avoid the Lull

As a wedding guest, you will no doubt relate to the feeling of somewhat, for want of a better way of expressing it, a lull which almost always occurs between the wedding ceremony itself and the evening reception when the rest of the guests arrive.

There is a wide plethora of ways to plan to avoid such a lull, including:

  • Keep the drinks flowing as well as canapés or other nibbles
  • Singing waiters
  • Hire an entertainer
  • Arrange outdoor games
  • Fireworks display
  1. Stay With Your Spouse

Although, upon first read, this third point seems as if it is pretty obvious, however, in reality, between all of the mingling, structured photo opportunities with your groomsmen and bridal party and everything else, it is quite likely that the time you spend together as new husband and wife on your wedding day is actually quite minimal.

An excellent way to combat the risk of this is to plan a specific time, just for 10 minutes or so, once in the daytime and again in the evening, when you and your newly betrothed spouse take a walk together and reflect on the day and the excitement of the future.

  1. Relinquish Control

Another incredibly important thing to know ahead of the wedding day itself is to not feel the need and the natural desire to plan every single element of both the day and night down to the smallest detail.

As with any big event, especially such an event as a wedding, there is always going to be little things that change on the day, or else are entirely different to how you had them mapped out in your mind.

Relinquishing control and remembering that, essentially, the only important thing is that yours and your fiancé’s happiness on the day itself are of optimum importance. Let the day unfold more naturally than having everything scheduled, enjoying spending the most significant day of your life with your loved rounds surrounding you.
