This huge popularity led The Exorcist to become the highest-grossing R-rated film record it held till 2017. The efforts regard to the practical effects, screenplay, direction, and acting that were involved to make this film allowed it to get ten nominations at the Academy Awards and won one as well, this was the first time any horror film was nominated for the best picture award. This film is still considered by many to be the scariest movie of all time and definitely not something for faint-hearted individuals and some even say that this film is cursed due to the real-life mysterious happenings that occurred during filming.

The Conjuring is a film inspired by true case files of Ed and Lorraine Warren, real-life paranormal investigators. The film follows the couple who while investigating the case of a family. That was terrorized by a demon, discover a supernatural force. That exists in the world. It is the most commercially successful. And critically acclaimed horror film of recent times. And also ranks as the highest-grossing domestic horror film of all time, grossing $293 million domestically and $318 million worldwide. The film received critical acclaim and was nominated for. Best Horror Film at the 25th Critics’ Choice Awards. Best Horror Film at the 22nd Saturn Awards, and Best Horror Movie at the 38th People’s Choice Awards. It was also nominated for Best Horror Movie at the 2nd Critics’ Choice Awards. This movie launched a whole new horror franchise with two direct sequels and many spin-off films.
