Before you go to the store, write down the following measurements:
To get the right curtain length, start measuring a few inches down from the ceiling and go all the way down to the floor.
Window width: To create fullness and prevent the “bedsheet effect,” multiply the width of your window by 2 or 2.5. For panels, this means that if your window is 36 inches wide, you should seek for panels that total 72 inches or more in width. If you want your valances to seem collected, do the same thing. Valances, unlike panels, can have a more fitted appearance, so you might want to choose one that is closer to the window’s width.
Fullness is lacking.
Pulling the curtains taut is the most unappealing of all the looks. They require ruffles/waves to add fullness. This will take double, if not three times, the amount of cloth required for the width of the curtain rod.
Making the wrong style choice.
Curtains are completed at the top in a variety of ways depending on how they are intended to be used. While most of us would prefer to avoid ironing, this is one instance where it is necessary. If you’re going to spend time and money on window treatments, make sure they’re in good shape by ironing them. Curtains that are wrinkled appear untidy and do not always hang straight.
